As existing customers will know Richard Alan has manufactured cylindrical welded steel tanks, silos and pressure vessels for many years and this comes as a natural extension of its range, adding the ability to service greater storage volumes with an on-site, bolted, modular steel tank product.
A range of products is available with glass-fused-to steel, fusion-bonded-epoxy and stainless steel options being offered, along with a full range of tank roofs and the ancillary items that have been provided on its welded tanks for years. Pipework, access steelwork, launders and distribution chambers, all provided in-house.
These new products meet or exceed expected industry specifications and design life requirements, with the added benefit of Richard Alan’s outstanding reputation for customer support, first-class engineering, project delivery and safety.

The minimum quality standard supplied by RICHARD ALAN is the industry leading TRIFUSION® Internal Coating which is the benchmark against which all other coated tank finishes are assessed.
Glass-Fused-to-Steel is the only tank finish where two materials are fused together to achieve the best of both materials; the strength and flexibility of the steel combined with the corrosion resistance of the glass. The high temperature fusion of glass to steel through a furnace results in an inert, durable finish.
Applied to both interior and exterior, the GFS coating is able to withstand the rigours of the construction site and provide many years of trouble-free service in harsh environments.
Our GFS product can be supplied with DWI Approved coatings for drinking water applications and fully complies with the new industry quality standard ISO 28765:2016
STAINLESS STEEL BOLTED TANKS
The range of Stainless Steel Bolted Tanks has been developed in response to a growing demand for a large-volume steel tank solution that is not dependent on coatings but still offers a high level of corrosion resistance.
Whilst there has been a preference for Stainless Steel Bolted Tanks in certain industries over the years (food processing, distilleries, breweries, etc.), Richard Alan has witnessed an increasing demand outside of those industries, in particular on anaerobic digestion/Biogas schemes with very specific requirements.
Applications such as Buffer Tanks, Pasteurisation Tanks and the Gas Zone in Primary Digesters are particularly suited to this solution, which provides the speed of on-site installation associated with a bolted tank, but with increased levels of corrosion resistance.
FUSION BONDED EPOXY COATED TANKS
Richard Alan's Fusion Bonded Epoxy Coated Steel Tanks are also manufactured by PERMASTORE® and have been developed in partnership with AkzoNobel to provide an innovative, technologically advanced Fusion-Bonded-Epoxy product; FUSION® V1100.
The high-tech RESICOAT® R4-ES used on the internal surface combined with the ultra-durable INTERPON® D2525 on the external surface sets the new benchmark in its sector.
With engineering expertise and experience gained from over 50 years in the global tank and silo industry, you can be assured that the FUSION® V1100 product offers market leading structural design together with an ultra-durable, high performance epoxy product which has been developed to lead within its market sector.
The FUSION® V1100 Epoxy coating is a durable and cost-effective solution suitable for the storage, processing and general containment of a range of liquids. Optimum control of the external coating overspray keeps the internal coating compliant with strict drinking water regulations.
TANK COVERS & ROOFS
Richard Alan offers a range of Tank Covers, each designed to suit the client’s specific application.
The GRP Conical or Beam & Infill Covers are produced in partnership with leading GRP manufacturers in the UK, providing a quality tank cover for odour control.
Glass-Fused-to-Steel & Stainless Steel Roofs are available for Anaerobic Digestion applications, where the loading requirements and corrosion resistance may exceed the limits of GRP.
Aluminium Geodesic Domes are offered as highly-engineered alternatives to GRP and provide maximum durability with minimum maintenance cost. The low weight of the aluminium dome roof has a decisive cost advantage, being designed to fit onto new and existing tanks, often without the need to be reinforced.

With a team of expert designers using Autodesk Inventor 3D modelling software, Richard Alan is able to provide accurate and site-specific modelling of your new tank and vessel arrangement. Many years’ experience shows through in the bespoke engineered solutions produced to meet detailed technical specifications, working from site surveys or customer-supplied drawings to develop detailed designs for fabrication, trial build and site installations.
